In Surf & Turf, designer Adam G., who’s at the rear of the Santa Monica-primarily based studio TRÜF Artistic, transfers his signature messymod style from typography to biology. The ongoing illustrated series melds geometric shapes, clean lines, and squiggly types into playful interpretations of foxes, roosters, and piranhas.
Various from stark and summary to a lot more dense compositions, the small creatures are all rendered in the designer’s signature purple and black shade palette. Each individual piece has “an emphasis on harmony and movement,” he tells Colossal, and the collection is “a wholly freeform exploration within a quite rigid, self-imposed layout language. That contrast involving full independence and whole restriction is what I consider defines the messymod design and style. It is what retains it dependable and bizarre or… ‘consistently unusual!’”
Prints of the assortment are out there in the messymod shop, and you can abide by Adam G.’s personal and industrial initiatives on Behance and Instagram.
